Offering: thanks to Mrs. Andrea for your willing to share your heartfelt testimony with us here this morning. Clapping!

Sub-Introduction: “In the Beginning.”

Well, this morning we are going to be talking about life. If you have your bibles here with you this morning. Please make your way to Psalm 139:13-16. As you are making your way to Psalm 139:13-16. Let’s talk for a moment about the importance of life.

Life is a precious gift from God. There is no doubt: He is the Creator of every living thing. Rightfully so: people are His special creation. Created to be in a relationship with Him. In fact;

Genesis 1:26-28 tells us, “26 And God said, “Let us make humankind in our image and according to our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of heaven, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every moving thing that moves upon the earth.” 27 So God created humankind in his image, in the likeness of God he created him, male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of heaven, and over every animal that moves upon the earth.”

“For Christians, human life is scared and is a gift from God. It is to be respected and protected. This teaching is called the sanctity of life”(bbc.co.uk, matters-of-life-and-death).

Let us now turn to our passage of Scripture found in Psalm 139:13-16. If everyone is there please say, Amen.

Psalm 139:13-16, 13 “Indeed you created my ⌊inward parts⌋; you wove me in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.Wonderful are your works, and my soul knows it well. 15 My ⌊frame⌋ was not hidden from you, when I was created secretly, and intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my embryo, and in your book they all were written—days fashioned for me when there was not one of them.”

Introduction: Biblical Teachings:

“The Bible teaches that human beings are created in the image of God,” as we have seen in the first chapter of Genesis earlier.

However, “it also teaches that murder is forbidden. Jesus also, “reminded his followers that each person is precious to God, so much so that God has counted every hair on their head”(bbc.co.uk, matters-of-life-and-death).

And, if we know that we matter greatly to God.

Then we need to come to “understand and apply the guiding principles of the Sanctity of Life in the variety of ways to the issue of abortion. Within the same church, views may differ”(bbc.co.uk).

The four main positions are as followed:

“Pro-life- some Christians, including many Roman Catholics, say that abortion is morally wrong because of their belief that human life begins at conception.”

“Pro-choice- it is up to the woman to decide whether it is right for her to have an abortion because it is her body.”

“Absolute moral- abortion is wrong in every circumstance.”

“Relative moral-abortion is permitted in certain circumstances.”

Furthermore, the Southern Baptist take the stance saying “that abortion is morally wrong because of our belief that human life begins at conception.”

It is a life created and that child deserves the chance to receive life!

“The Bible does not have any direct references to abortion. However, there are a number of passages with emphasis that human life is special as it is created by God and that each individual is known to God-even in the womb”(bbc.co.uk).

Here are some examples:

In Jeremiah 1:5, God says to Jeremiah, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you came out from the womb I consecrated you; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Luke 1:39-44 describes a meeting between Mary and Elizabeth. Each woman was expecting a baby-Jesus and John the Baptist respectively. Elizabeth’s unborn child “the baby in my womb leaped for joy.”

“Luke uses the word ‘brephos’ to describe the unborn Jesus and John-this is the same word used for babies and toddlers. In doing so he gives equal status to unborn children as those already born. The unborn soul of John-”leaped in the womb”-had a soul, just as much as if he had been born”(bbc.co.uk).

“The Ten Commandments clearly states” in Exodus 20:13, “Do not murder.” “Although in certain circumstances the Bible allows the use of lethal force in self-defence or in the defense of others. However, Biblical teaching states that the deliberate killing of an innocent human being is always wrong”(bbc.co.uk).

Psalm 100:3 testifies, “ 3 Know that Yahweh, he is God; he made us and we are his. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.”

Ephesians 2:10 “10 For we are his creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we may walk in them.

“The message from the Bible is that human life is God-given, important and scared. Therefore, the sanctity of human life must be respected.

“Human life is God’s to give and take away.”

“Human beings are made in God’s image and therefore have a special status.”

“ Human life begins at conception, not when the baby is born or at some other point in the development of the fetus.”

Therefore, as followers of Jesus Christ, created in His image. We should stand for the Sanctity of Life. Take a stand for the unborn child. Become the voice of one crying in the wilderness for the children who are yet to be heard, and deserve to be heard. Fight back against the abortion of the unborn children.

According to (WHO) World Health Organization, “every year in the world there are an estimated 40-50 million abortions. This corresponds to approximately 125,000 per day”(WHO).

Here in the USA alone between 2019-2020 Planned Parenthood had a total number of abortions per week: 6,824. That being 975 a day at a rate of 16 babies being aborted every hour. Horrific! And the those numbers are steadily going up more each day, Beloved.

Take the initiative; join the fight for life. Let your voices be heard, your prayers be lifted, petitions signed in favor for life over death. An unborn baby in the womb is unable to speak for themselves and all the more reason why we as believers in life and followers of Jesus Christ should stand against the injustice of the abortion clinics.
